A spirited attempt to offer youth tees begins with Keep Pennsylvania Boo-tiful

Apparition apparel: youth sizes in our Hershey store

Labor Day morning found me driving to an empty restaurant parking lot in Gettysburg to meet a Facebook Marketplace seller.

I was buying a vintage Blue Ribbon Bread rack, which I subsequently learned had been among the fixtures at the legendary T.L. Devilbiss General Store some 20 miles away in Uniontown, Md.

The store closed in 1999, so the bread rack has been idle for a quarter-century — until now. It has a new home at our store in Hershey, where ghosts from the past, be they decor or designs, abound.

First youth tees since Covid

It seems only appropriate, then, that we’re first using the bread rack to display our new Keep Pennsylvania Boo-tiful Tee, specifically the youth sizes.

Of course, the tee plays off our hallmark Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful design and is our way of tapping into the ever-expanding Halloween season.

This is the first time we’ve simultaneously introduced a design in both unisex adult and youth sizes.

We’ve only dabbled in youth tees until now — a Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Tee and a Valentine’s Day heart design — and not since before Covid. Until we opened our brick-and-mortar store in June 2024, we didn’t have enough physical room at pop-up markets to accommodate youth tees.

There’s way more than a ghost of a chance that we’ll introduce at least three other youth tees this fall.
