Herpak had been in business for 44 years — and had sold millions of hot dogs — when the company in 1955 celebrated the opening of its new high-tech plant “on the original location” at 1146 S. Cameron St. An ad noted: “You should see how these Herpak products are pampered,” alluding to bologna, ham, bacon and sausage in addition to franks. Herpak, which operated at least until 1985, was known for its long-time support of 4-H by buying prize steers at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.
