Hershey Park’s vast new pool complex opened in 1929. The four pools comprised 35,000 square feet and 1.24 million gallons of filtered spring water, according to the Hershey Archives. By the 1940s, more than 100,000 people visited the pools each summer. The complex closed after the 1971 season.
